“G-man” · April 22, 1994 – August 12, 2016

Astronomy was one of his great passions. On the 10-year anniversary of his passing — which falls on the day of a total solar eclipse — we will scatter his ashes in the Mediterranean Sea. This voyage is both a pilgrimage and a celebration of a life that still lights our way.

Welcome

This private site is our shared journal for the voyage. It is for us, our family, and close friends. Here we will collect photos, short daily notes, longer stories, and the moments that matter most from the moment we leave Oklahoma City until we return.

We fly into Barcelona on August 8 and stay two nights at OneBarcelona before embarking Scarlet Lady on the 10th. We’ll go ashore at every port (including a train day-trip from Cannes to Monte Carlo), disembark in Rome on the 22nd, and stay four nights at Hotel Adriano Rooftop before flying home on the 26th. Most of all, we look forward to the quiet power of August 12 — the eclipse, the sea, and the chance to honor Garrison under the same sky he loved.

Before We Sail July 2026

Getting Ready

Packing lists are nearly finished, the drone batteries are charged, and we are counting the days until we step aboard Scarlet Lady in Barcelona. This will be our first Virgin Voyages cruise and the first time we watch a solar eclipse from the sea.

After 39 years of marriage, the idea of standing together on deck while the sky darkens over the Mediterranean feels like one of those quiet “how did we get so lucky?” moments. We are looking forward to the slower rhythm of sea days mixed with the energy of places like Ibiza, Cannes, the Amalfi Coast — and most of all, to the sacred space of August 12.
